I have been researching family trees for over 30 years now. I came into my interest in genealogy after undertaking my degree in sociology and from my interest in English social history.

I am a Professional Family tree Ancestry Researcher with over 25 years experience in British genealogical research. I am a member and accredited researcher of the Ashbourne Association of Professional Genealogist Researchers (APG) and also a member of the National Genealogical Society.

All family tree researching is personally carried out and undertaken by myself, with absolute confidentiality.

I have worked in and travelled throughout the british isles for 40 years and, as a result, have a close and intimate knowledge of the local geography, history, place names and people of the United kingdom. This can be a most useful asset when building a broader picture of a family and its history.

I will undertake family research into all aspects of Genealogy and family history throughout England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. I undertake full scale research into a family ancestry and one off focused investigations into individuals of your family tree.

I also undertake research into more obscure records to try to progress research which has, apparently, been halted by "lack of written records". I also specialise in difficult family tree searches.

Firstly a free initial consultation to discuss what you are looking for, to help explain the options available, to gather what information you may already have, and to give you an understanding of the process, and the time and cost involved.

I generally limit my research to within the UK, and as far back as the early 1800s, but I'm happy to undertake earlier research for you.

Quality Promise:

Prior to commencing research, it will be ensured that your requirements have been fully understood, and that the likelihood of success has been communicated to you.

Research will be conducted as far as possible from original source material, and transcriptions and other secondary sources where used will not be relied on as fact. Original documents will be included with the research report as far as possible, when this is not possible due to copyright a full and accurate transcription shall be made.

Authoritative source material will be used to prove your ancestry, where necessary more than one source will be consulted. For 19th and 20th century research you will be provided with copies of the original birth and marriage certificates which were obtained to prove your ancestry, as well as cross referenced census information.

Ambiguous results will be communicated to you with such wording as "possibly" or "probably", and will not be cited as fact.

All stages of research will be recorded, and all source material will be cited in the research report.

The Timescale for research will be communicated in advance and you will be sent regular communications to keep you up to date on the progress of your research.

Where appropriate preliminary searches will be conducted free of charge to ensure that the research is feasible.

Where research cannot proceed to the extent originally anticipated, the reasons for this will be explained to you and any fees will be reduced pro-rata.
